If you’ve never had the chance to see legendary surf master Dick Dale play live, you’re missing one of the great experiences in music.
Dale, known as the King of the Surf Guitar, has been playing professionally since 1955 and is credited with developing the surf style through his use of heavy reverberation. He worked extensively with Fender to develop the first 100-Watt amplifier that could produce distorted by clearly defined tones.
Although he never charted higher than number 60 on the Hot 100 (Let’s Go Trippin’ / 1963), his song 1962 song Misirlou has become a classic of the genre and figured heavily in the 1994 film Pulp Fiction.
Dale has a number of shows over the summer along with a couple of shows in the fall.
