The ABC’s digital radio channel Dig Music is about to undergo a rebrand with the new name Double J.
When the ABC launched its youth radio station in Sydney in 1975 on the AM band it was called 2JJ and referred to on air as Double J. When Sydney’s 2JJ moved to the FM band in 1980 it became the national Triple J.
The new Dig name is a homage to the original youth station of the 70s that revolutionised Australian radio by introducing popular music outside the Top 40 for the first time.
The new Double J will utilise the heritage of the 2JJ and Triple J archives. It will also feature a daily show with host Myf Warhurst. “I’m thrilled to be joining the Double J team,”
