Disney will make a Mary Poppins sequel 54 years after the classic original.
Mary Poppins Returns will go into production in 2017 and be released for Christmas 2018.
The cast will include Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins with Meryl Strep, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Ben Whishaw.
‘Mary Poppins Returns’ will be set 20 years after the original. Whishaw, best known as Q in the recent Bond movies, will play the grown-up Michael Banks who is now the father of three children.
Miranda will play a new character Jack who with Mary Poppins (Blunt) helps Michael reconnect with his childhood. Meryl Streep will be Mary’s cousin Topsy Turvy.
