Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge became “Art Garfunkel to my Paul Simon” for David Draiman and Disturbed in Houston this week.
The Disturbed version of the Simon & Garfunkel classic has been one of Australia’s biggest rock hits of 2016. The song reached no 4 in Australia making it a much bigger hit than the UK (no 29) or the USA (no 42).
Paul Simon wrote ‘The Sound of Silence’ across 1963 and 1964. When Simon & Garfunkel signed to Columbia in 1964 they first recorded the song for their debut album ‘Wednesday Morning 3AM’ but remixed the song in 1965 to add electric instruments and re-released it as a single in September 1965.
For Simon & Garfunkel the song reached no 1 in the USA and no 3 in Australia.
Disturbed will tour Australia and New Zealand in November for Frontier Touring.
