Former Short Stack frontman Shaun Diviney has put his punk origins aside for his rock based EP ‘Sex/Games’ which he had crowd-funded through Pledge Music.
Short Stack had a number one album on the ARIA chart with ‘Stack Is The New Black’ in 2009 and then reached no. 6 with the follow-up ‘This Is Bat Country’. Both albums were certified Gold in Australia.
Shaun describes the sound of the new EP as common ground between Blink 182 and Justin Timberlake. “I wanted to find a place in the middle where I could experiment with both of their musical footprints,” says Diviney in a statement. “I think now I’m incorporating a lot of genres that aren’t traditionally mixed with rock into my music to get a sound I really love.”
Short Stack broke up in 2012. Shaun announced he would tour as Diviney and performed dates in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
The ‘Sex/Games’ EP was funded through a Pledge Music crowd-funding campaign that was 100% fulfilled within 24 hours. The EP will be released on July 1, 2013.
