Drake is set to open a nightclub featuring “dancing” in Houston, Texas called The Ballet.

Drake teased the new venture while opening a pop-up shop at the Toyota Center in the city on Monday night (05Sep16), where he told the crowd the club will offer a “classy new dance experience”.

“There’s a culture out there of dancing and it’s not about no strip club s**t,” Drake told the crowd at the event, as seen in footage posted online by his fan site Word On Road. “It’s about these amazing women that we’ve got in one spot, the music that we’ve got, and the Houston culture that we got. I just wanna let you know that I’m going to bring it to you in the most honest and genuine way possible.”

Although he hails from Toronto, Drake, has long credited Houston as being instrumental in the early stages of his career, and references the city in his 2009 song Houstatlantavegas.

Following the event, the 29-year-old took to his Instagram account to announce his new venture and confirmed the joint will be opening at the beginning of next year (17) and aims to put women on a “pedestal”.

“Tonight is a different take on how it should be done in Houston,” he wrote, alongside a picture of ballet slippers, the apparent logo of the club. “Treat yourself don’t cheat yourself. Where the women are on a pedestal and the surroundings are unforgettable. The Ballet pop up tonight for HAW. Grand opening early 2017. #HelloWorld (sic)”

According to the New York Times, the city is home to one of the largest concentrations of strip clubs in America, and in 2014 more than 100 were believed to be operating at varying levels of legality.

Drake’s news comes after speculation the rapper has rekindled his romance with singer Rihanna after he made a heartfelt admission to her at the MTV VMAs last week (ends04Sep16).

During his tribute to Rihanna, Drake, dressed in a tuxedo, stated he’d been in love with the Bajan star for years.

“She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old,” he said. “She’s one of my best friends in the world. All my adult life I’ve looked up to her even though she’s younger than me.”
