Drake Turned Down Mark Ronson Collaboration

Mark Ronson has revealed Drake ‘politely’ declined to work with him.

The 39-year-old music producer and DJ released his hit single Uptown Funk, which features Bruno Mars, last year to great acclaim, as the tune spent 14 weeks at the number one spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

But when he asked other musicians to appear on his album Uptown Special, Mark wasn’t able to acquire a collaboration with the Canadian rapper.

‘A few people have said no. I am not going to say names, Drake. He was very polite about it,’ he told Alan Carr, also known as Chatty Man.

Mark plays venues as a disc jockey often.

But the Grammy-winning songwriter has admitted DJing can be annoying at times.

‘People do come up to me in the booth and get me to announce to the valet that they have lost their parking ticket,’ Mark shared. “Some people just come up and ask for a vodka tonic. It is rude.’

The British producer has teamed up with many hit musicians during his career, including Adele, Lily Allen and the late Amy Winehouse.

He does everything from penning lyrics to mixing tracks, but one of the most important aspects of his work is making his collaborators feel comfortable.

‘I make the process enjoyable because I’m excited about everybody’s ideas. You’re part life coach, because you want to make the person feel like they can accomplish anything. When they go in the booth they need to feel so built-up that they can deliver the greatest vocal performance they’ve ever done,” he explained to the UK edition of Esquire previously.

“I think being from a big family and having to deal with different temperaments and egos definitely helped. All artists can be quite fragile and have egos and need to be told that they’re great.’
