Largely unknown in his own country, Dub FX is one of Australia’s biggest musical exports.
Dub FX is Melbourne born Benjamin Stanford, a street performer that has made a name for himself by busking throughout Europe. What sets Dub FX apart from the rest is that he creates the music with his voice, loops it, feeds it through FX processors, and then sings and raps over the top.
His style and genre is hard to pinpoint, traversing through hip hop, drum n bass, jungle and reggae, while still remaining cohesive.
Amazingly, Dub FX has amassed over 570,000 Facebook fans and 100 million YouTube views entirely on his own, without a record label, and without polished marketing campaigns.
He first came into prominence when one of his YouTube videos went viral. Directed by indie filmmaker BD, the video for ‘Love Someone’ was filmed live on the street and perhaps best demonstrates how Dub FX creates his music. The video has now accumulated over 18 million views.

Playing in over 40 different countries over the last 5 years, Dub FX has also played many of the world’s top festivals including Sziget, Glastonbury, Coachella and Australia’s own Falls Festival. Additionally, Dub FX has already locked in appearances at some of Europe’s biggest festivals including Exit in Serbia, for 2014.
His new album ‘Theory Of Harmony’ was released and funded through Pledge Music, reaching its target with over a month to spare, eventually reaching 148% of its target goal. As part of the pledge campaign promises Dub FX will be making a film clip for each song, releasing a remix album featuring world-class producers, and will be playing free live shows on the streets of the world.
Fans of Dub FX have responded positively to the new album, flooding Dub FX’s social media pages with praise and well wishes.
Stand out tracks include ‘Light Me On Fire’ featuring MC Xander, ‘Senorita’, and ‘Run’ featuring Eva Lazarus.

Most recently, Dub FX has been added to the Australian contingent heading to SXSW in Austin, Texas. Here he will be performing his new live show featuring guitar and other instrumentation, in both a venue show as well as sticking to his roots with a street performance.
He has also recently started a Facebook campaign to get into the triple j Hottest 100 without ever being played on the station.
“…They (triple J) have never played my music nor the music of a lot of my peers who are equally popular around Australia on their station… not even once! I’m not bitter, I don’t mind in the slightest, but I thought it would be funny to try and win their annual competition (hottest 100) which is a big deal in Australia, without ever being played on their station!” said Dub FX.
“It’s hilarious how many beautiful and passionate fans I have around the world when my home country has never even heard of me!” he added.
‘Theory Of Harmony’ is available now on iTunes, Bandcamp, Spotify and Google Play. Fans can also follow Dub FX on Bands In Town to be emailed when he is touring in their town or city.
