Former Guns ‘n Roses and Velvet Revolver guitarist Duff McKagan will deliver the CBGB Music Festival Conference keynote in New York in October.
The CBGB Music & Film Festival conference will feature 125 speakers and showcase 100 films and a total of 700 live events.
The CBGB conference is a nod to the iconic CBGB music venue founded by Hilly Kristal in 1973. CBGB’s became the centre of the foundation of new wave with acts like Ramones, B-52s, Talking Heads, Television, Blondie, the Patti Smith Group, and The Dead Boys establishing their audience via the CBGB stage.
The movie ‘CBGB’ will have its world premiere as part of the festival. The movie stars Alan Rickman (HARRY POTTER, LOVE ACTUALLY) as late CBGB owner Hilly Kristal, Malin Akerman (WATCHMEN, THE PROPOSAL) as Debbie Harry of Blondie, Ashley Greene (TWILIGHT) as Lisa Kristal, Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters) as Iggy Pop, Mickey Sumner (FRANCIS HA) as Patti Smith, Rupert Grint (HARRY POTTER) as Cheetah Chrome of Dead Boys, and Johnny Galecki (THE BIG BANG THEORY) as record exec Terry Ork.
McKagan will talk about his start in Guns N’ Roses, his work as a journalist, actor, producer and wealth manager.
The CBGB Music & Film Festival Conference will be held at Manhattan’s Landmark Sunshine Theatre from October 8 to 13.
