An elaborate marketing campaign for Australia that started out as a trailer for a new Crocodile Dundee movie has been revealed as an advertisement for Tourism Australia after airing at the Super Bowl in the USA.
Over the past few weeks, Tourism Australia has been revealed what appeared to be a trailer for a movie titled ‘Dundee’, about Brian Dundee, the song of Mick ‘Crocodile’ Dundee played by Paul Hogan in the 80s and 90s movies.
The Super Bowl ad starts out as a trailer for the new (fictitious) movie and ends up revealing it is an advertisement to entice Americans to Australia.
The ad uses Australia’s top Hollywood talent Chris Hemsworth, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Margot Robbie, Isla Fisher and Ruby Rose to make its point.
American actor and comedian Danny McBride plays Brian Dundee.
A very funny moment is the Paul Hogan cameo towards the end as Chris Hemsworth tells Danny McBride “you’re the best Crocodile Dundee since Crocodile Dundee’.
The wait is over. Watch the full official DUNDEE trailer right here. It's the surprise no one saw coming (unless you've been on the Internet during the past two weeks). Visit https://t.co/kadAyLFwZh for more. #SeeAustralia #DundeeTourismAd pic.twitter.com/kxmGItY8tV
