Nordoff Robbins is delighted to today announce two more winners of its O2 Silver Clef Awards, Duran Duran and Kasabian.
Both artists will collect their awards, along with the other nine winners, at the annual star-studded O2 Silver Clef Lunch, to be held on July 3 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane.
In celebration of a career spanning 37 years, boasting 14 singles in the Top 10 UK Singles Chart, 21 in the Billboard Hot 100 and more than 120 million records sold worldwide, Duran Duran will be awarded the highly coveted Spotify Lifetime Achievement Award. Considered by many to be one of the UK’s most famous exports, Duran Duran can now add this award to their endless list of accolades that include two Grammys, two Brits and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Kasabian exploded onto the music scene in 1997 and have since released five critically acclaimed studio albums including their latest ’48:13′. They are known for their electric live performances, which has seen them headline festivals from Glastonbury to V Festival and now will be awarded Royal Albert Hall Best Band at the O2 Silver Clef Awards. On their award Kasabian said, “We’ve admired Nordoff Robbins work for some years now and are honoured to be receiving the Royal Albert Hall Best Band Award at the O2 Silver Clef Lunch. As musicians, it means a lot to us to be recognised by a charity which does such great work using music to help people.”
Nordoff Robbins has already announced seven other winners at the O2 Silver Clef Awards 2015. They are James Bay, who will win Jack Daniel’s Best Newcomer; Jake Bugg, AEG Live Best Male; Rita Ora, Vevo Best Female; Mark Ronson, American Express Innovation Award; Primal Scream, Investec Icon Award; Iron Maiden, O2 Silver Clef Award and Il Divo who will be awarded the PPL Classical Award.
Since launching in 1976 the O2 Silver Clef Awards have raised more than £8.5 million to fund Nordoff Robbins’ music therapy work.
In the 40 year history of the O2 Silver Clef Lunch, there have been a total of 163 award winners. Some of the biggest names in the music industry have been honoured including David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, The Bee Gees, Michael Buble, Kylie Minogue, Pharrell Williams and many many more.
