Eagles of Death Metal’s Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme have spoken publicly for the first time about the terrorist attack at their show at the Bataclan in Paris a week ago where 89 people were killed.
“Several people hid in our dressing room and the killers were able to get in and kill everyone of them except for a kid that was hiding under my leather jacket,” Hughes told Vice founder Shane Smith.
“People were playing dead and they were so scared,” he said. “A great reason why so many were killed was because so many people wouldn’t leave their friends. So many people put themselves in front of people”.
Among the dead were the band’s merch manager Nick Alexander and Mercury Records International product Manager Thomas Ayad.
The full Eagles of Death Metal interview will be on vice.com next week.
