Rita Ora and Ed Sheeran may soon be making sweet music together.
The two pop powerhouses previously jammed with each other while Rita was signed to Jay Z’s Roc Nation label, but showbiz sources say it’s unlikely that any of the tracks will see the light of day.
After ditching Roc Nation and joining Ed at new label Atlantic Records, a second stab at a duet may be on the cards.
“Ed was one of the artists Rita worked with while still with Roc Nation,” an insider told Britain’s Daily Star newspaper.
“None of the material will probably be released, but now they are both on Atlantic there’s a good chance that they can reconnect and start over again.
Rita was one of Roc Nation’s first signees, but after releasing her mega successful debut album Ora in 2012, she failed to make another full record. Before leaving the label things turned ugly, with music execs suing the 25-year-old for failing to deliver the albums she was supposed to produce.
Rita also took legal action, accusing her former bosses of losing focus and putting other ventures before her music career.
Her new deal with Atlantic was finalised on Monday (20Jun16), with the blonde star sharing her excitement at her future prospects.
“Music is my first love and I am looking forward to getting my new songs released,” she said in a statement. “I’m thankful to my new Atlantic Records family for all their support and encouragement. The next chapter is going to be incredible.”
President of Atlantic Records UK Ben Cook added that the Black Widow singer is a “is a rare talent and a true global star”.
