Ed Sheeran and Ryan Tedder have collaborated on a track.
The singer/songwriters are two of the hottest names in the industry, and news of a joint venture will no doubt excite fans.
After meeting backstage at the British version of The X Factor last month, they decided working together was a great idea.
‘It was a really weird thing because I had heard that he just loves writing songs all the time,’ Ed told British radio station Capital FM.
‘I’d never met him. He was in the dressing room next to me at X Factor so I just popped my head around the corner and was like, ‘Oh, do you want to write a song tonight?’
Ed and Ryan then spent the next few hours coming up with the track, which they plan to keep under wraps until it’s ready for release.
Ryan, who fronts pop rock band One Republic, often lends his song-writing skills to other artists. He penned smash hit Bleeding Love for former X Factor winner Leona Lewis and was also the man behind Beyonce Knowles’ Halo.
While the song will no doubt set the charts on fire, 23-year-old Ed’s solo talents aren’t faring too badly either. Last week it was announced he had been nominated for three Grammy Awards and could take home gold for album of the year and best pop vocal album with x and best song written for visual media with I See Fire, which featured in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
‘I was with Ed on the day it happened. We were so happy. He deserves it so much. He’s one of my closest friends in terms of celebrities,’ fellow Grammy nominee Sam Smith gushed.
‘We went for lunch and had sushi. But no drink was involved so it wasn’t a proper celebration.’
