Ed Sheeran Breaks Spotify UK Streaming Record

Ed Sheeran ‘x’ has broken Spotify records for first week streaming.

The Sheeran album ‘x’ was streamed 6,248,130 times in the UK last week beating Daft Punk’s record breaking 6,181,583 streams for ‘Random Access Memories’.

Globally, Ed Sheeran ‘x’ was streamed 23,792,476 times beating previous titleholder Eminem ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’ on 22,790,154 streams.

Ed’s UK figure beat Lana Del Rey’s record by 2,064,297 streams. Lana had only achieved her record figure on June 16.

‘x’ sold 182,427 units in the UK in its first week on sale. In Australia it sold 24,521 copies to debut at number one this week.
