Ed Sheeran is launching is own record label.

The 24-year-old singer has enjoyed huge success as a solo singer as well as writing tracks for other artists.

And now he is set to impart his musical knowledge onto other young stars, after revealing he has signed his first act to his new label Gingerbread Man Records.

“I’m extremely excited to be starting-up my own label,’ Ed said. “It’s something I’ve been planning for some time. I’ve always loved endorsing acts from the very beginning and I get to work with artists I truly believe in.”

The label is a subsidiary of Warner Music UK Ltd.

Ed’s first signing is Jamie Lawson, who he supported at one of his solo shows in London earlier this year.

“My first signing is Jamie Lawson – he’s an incredible talent, who I’ve known for a couple of years, and we’ve actually been on tour this year across Australia and the UK/Europe,’ he said.

“Jamie’s self-titled album is coming on October 9 and I can’t wait for you to hear it.’

Alongside the release of Jamie’s album, the singers first video will be made public through Gingerbread Man Records’ YouTube channel.

Ed really got people’s attention in 2010, when he released hit single The A Team. From there, his career soared and the 2011 album that spawned his breakout single, +, selling more than 102,000 copies in its first week in the UK.

Things have been on the up ever since, which comes as a surprise for Ed, who thought his career might flat line after that original burst of success.

‘I thought + was my big album and I’d plateau from there. Now that this one has exceeded everyone’s expectations, the pressure is on,” he admitted in a recent interview with British newspaper The Sun.
