The Supersuckers, who have labeled themselves “The Greatest Rock ‘n’ Roll Band in the World”, have been forced to cancel their upcoming European tour due to bass player Eddie Spaghetti being diagnosed with cancer.
In a statement the bad has announced, “Our lead singer, bass playing madman, Eddie Spaghetti, has been diagnosed with stage 3 oropharynx cancer and will undergo surgery and radiation treatments this summer.
“All good vibes, juju, well wishes and donations accepted“.
Spaghetti (born Edward Carlyle Daly III), 47, has been told he is suffering from stage 3 oropharynx cancer and will undergo surgery and a course of radiation.
The oropharynx is in the middle part of the throat and includes the base of the tongue, tonsils, soft palate and walls of the pharynx. Stage 3 indicates that the disease has invaded surrounding tissue and some lymph nodes.
As happens so often with musicians, the treatment for the cancer has put a financial strain on Spaghetti’s family. A fund has been set up on the YouCaring site to raise funds for medical costs and to benefit his wife of 15 years, Jessika and their three children ages 14, 5 and 3.
To donate to the fund, go to the YouCaring website.
