Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder never goes anywhere without an Australian 50 cent piece in his pocket.
In the documentary ‘Cosmic Psychos: Blokes You Can Trust’, Vedder explains the party trick he learned from Ross Knight of the Cosmic Psychos where basically you push the coin into your bum crack, have to straddle across the room and drop the coin into a beer glass. Warning: Vedder shows how it is done in the movie.
‘Blokes You Can Trust’, the story of Cosmic Psychos will premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival this weekend.
The documentary, from director Matt Weston, tells the story of Australian punk pioneers Cosmic Psychos, who just did what they did with no clear strategy. Despite their lack of direction the band went on to influence the Seattle grunge for bands like The Melvins, Mudhoney and Pearl Jam.
In the movie Vedder says, “There are songs about driving a bulldozer. For me, that was ‘Wow, okay, Aussie punk rock’. That’s punk rock to me.”
‘Cosmic Psychos: Blokes You Can Trust’ screened on Friday, July 26 at the Melbourne International Film Festival and will open in cinemas on August 8.
