It’s a total Electric Light Orchestra week on the British Album chart with Jeff Lynne’s new albums coming in at 7 and 8 and the previous collection, All Over the World, at number 10.
At 7 is the new album from ELO’s founder Lynne with Long Wave. That far outdistances his former biggest chart album as a solo artist, Armchair Theatre, which peaked at 24.
One step lower is Lynne’s new rerecording of the ELO catalog Mr. Blue Sky: The Very Best of Electric Light Orchestra. Critics are generally giving these new versions the thumbs up with some saying they actually improve on the originals. Of course, if you want to hear the songs the way you remember them, there is All Over the World: The Very Best of ELOat 10.
