Opening the night was the American singer Andra Day. Her voice is a cross between Amy Winehouse and Rihanna.
She has got a very vintage vibe, both in her looks and in her music. Wearing a pink spotted dress, a headscarf holding her hair back and big golden rings, she started by singing Gold. She then moved on to Forever Mine and Honey Or Fire. Andra Day took us on an inspiring journey when she sang Rise Up, her debut single from her debut album Cheers To The Fall. Her warm voice, her groove and her style captivated the audience. The venue made her gig even more intimate and the audience was religiously listening to Day’s every word.
At 9pm, after a 60 seconds countdown that made the anticipation almost unbearable, Ellie Goulding appeared on the Apple Music Festival stage. Outside opened the concert and got everybody dancing. The singer, dressed in black trousers, black top and black suspenders, showed off her amazing vocals and demonstrated her great physical shape.
Goulding sang almost back to back her greatest hits from her albums Lights and Halcyon Days: Ritual, Goodness Gracious, Animal, Starry Eyed, Joy, Figure 8, … She treated the audience by performing Your Song, stating how happy she was to be back in London and how she had not performed this song in a while. Anything Could Happen was magical as the whole Roundhouse was clapping and singing along, to the great joy of Goulding that kept encouraging her fans to go wild. The crowd was raving to I Need Your Love, Lights and Burn.
After the call back, Ellie Goulding decided to try out her newest single on the Apple Music Festival audience. On My Mind is the first single from her third album Delirium, which will be released on the 6th of November. The singer ended her concert on a love note by performing Love Me Like You Do.
The first night of the Apple Music Festival was a blast and sent people home with a huge smile on their faces. The two female artists gave their whole energy and soul to the audience. The venue is simply incredible and gives this unbelievable feeling of intimacy and closeness with the performers.
