Eminem’s sudden drop of the ‘Kamikaze’ album on Friday has blocked Tash Sultana from a number one debut (and most likely Troye Sivan as well).
Australian acts Sultana and Sivan were both hot contenders to slap a number one across Australia this week with their two high profile, highly promoted releases ‘Flow State’ by Tash and ‘Bloom’ by Troye.
Sultana has the Sony marketing muscle behind her release, Sivan is fuelled by his ‘Popstar of the Moment’ stature.
It looked like it would be an well balanced battle until Eminem came along and dropped his 10th studio album ‘Kamikaze’ without warning on Friday.
‘Kamikaze’ has been an instant number one around the world with the album anchored on top of the Australian, British and American charts.
US-based Sivan now lives in Los Angeles. His debut album ‘Blue Neighbourhood’ reached no 6 in Australia in 2014 and was also a Top 10 album in the USA.
Tash Sultana released her ‘Notion’ EP in 2016 independently in 2016. It reached no 8 on the Australian chart.
