Eminem Supports 50 Cent Leaving His Label

Eminem supports 50 Cent’s departure from Shady/Aftermath.

The Candy Shop rapper announced his move to Capitol Music Group Thursday after a rollercoaster two years with Interscope Records, which backs the Eminem and Dr. Dre imprints that kick-started 50’s career.

But Eminem has no hard feelings against his protege.

“Both myself and Shady Records are grateful to have had the chance to play a part in 50’s career,” Eminem told MTV News.

“Shady simply would not be what it is without 50 Cent. I’ve developed a great friendship with 50 over the years, and that’s not going to change. We know 50 will have success in his new situation, and we remain supporters of both him and G-Unit.”

Fifty is also taking G-Unit to Capitol, signing with the label’s independent division, Caroline.

The rapper thanked both Eminem and Dr. Dre for their support over the years in a statement confirming the move.

“I have had great success to date with Shady/Aftermath/Interscope and I’d like to thank Eminem and Dr. Dre for giving me an incredible opportunity,” he said.

“I’ve learned so much from them through the years. I am excited to enter this new era where I can carry out my creative vision.”

MTV reports 50 blamed Interscope for delaying the release of his fifth studio album Street King Immortal. He plans to release a new LP, Animal Ambition, under Capitol this summer.
