Nick Littlemore reveals that he’s currently working on the second Empire Of The Sun album in New Zealand.
The debut for Empire Of The Sun, Walking On A Dream, was a surprise hit for the dreamy synthpop act comprising of Nick Littlemore of Pnau and Luke Steele of The Sleepy Jackson.
It debuted in the Australian top ten and went double platinum, scooping up seven ARIA Awards in 2009, as well as going Gold in Ireland, the UK and Germany.
Luke Steele recently told Prefix that he, Littlemore and collaborator Paul Sloan were writing in New York and LA, putting together “twenty-five sketches toward a new record.”
Now Nick Littlemore tweeted on his Pnau Twitter account that he’s “3hrs north of auckland working on the new empire of the sun long player”.
There’s no talk of a release date but there were fears that a second EOTS album would never happen, following a lon break. But positive signs emerged this year as Steele assembled a live group for shows in the US.
Their WalkingOnADream.com website is currently down, which may be a promising sign that there’s a dot com for the new title floating around somewhere.
