Engelbert Humperdinck became a social media star last week when news of his new song ‘Love Will Set You Free’ was tweeted more than 1,000,000 times.
‘Love Will Set You Free’ will be the United Kingdom entry for Eurovision 2012.
“I have just spent two weeks in London and there were full page articles in every national newspaper every day that I was in the country! It blew me away. I feel totally proud to represent my country in song and I am “in it to win it!,” said Engelbert as he arrived at LAX on Saturday afternoon. “Ifelt like an athlete about to compete in the Olympics. Everywhere I went people wanted to shake my hand and wish me luck.”
Noise11.com announced a month back that Engelbert Humperdinck would be Eurovision’s UK entrant and now you can hear the song the music legend will perform on the show.
‘Love Will Set You Free’ was written by Train producer Martin Terefe and Ivor Novello winner Sacha Skarbek, the team who wrote James Blunt’s ‘You’re Beautiful’ and Lana Del Rey’s ‘Born To Die’.
Martin is also producing Engelbert’s next album, due around the time of Eurovision. Dan Wilson, who wrote ‘Somebody Like You’ for Adele and six songs on Dixie Chicks ‘Taking The Long Way’ album, is also working with Engelbert on the new album.
Engelbert will release the album through Conehead Records.
