Music legend Engelbert Humperdinck has made a flash visit to Australia to perform at a charity show for the St Vincent’s Hospital tonight (July 18, 2012).
Engelbert will perform for the event tonight at the home of John Symond,
Prior to the trip to Sydney, he has been working on his new studio album for UK label Conehead Records with Dan Wilson (Semisonic, Dixie Chicks) and Martin Terefe (Train).
He was also recently the British entrant in the Eurovision song contest and despite not faring well in the contest had a boost in popularity after the event with offers rolling in for TV commercials, to play private parties and even an off on Broadway after the show.
Tonight’s special St Vincent’s Hospital charity event is a one-off show for Engelbert in Australia. Tickets to the sold-out show were $2500 a head.
The trip isn’t all work. Engelbert’s son and manager Scott Dorsey lives in Sydney with wife Jo and granddaughter Kiki.
