Eric Clapton is hitting the bit 7-0 on March 30 and has set two Madison Square Garden dates as the first shows of his next decade.
Clapton has tentatively scheduled the shows for May 1 and 2; however, depending on the NBA playoffs, one of the shows may be moved to May 3.
Madison Square Garden is the venue in the U.S. where Clapton has played the most shows, including a number of reunion performances with Cream, with the new dates being the 46th and 47th of his career. His first, with Cream, opened the new version of Madison Square Garden in 1968.
Claptons outstanding current band includes Paul Carrack (Ace, Squeeze, Mike + the Mechanics), drummer Steve Gadd, Nathan East, Chris Stainton, Sharon White and Michele John. Andy Fairweather Low will open.
The singer/guitarist says that he is looking to either ending or slowing down his touring schedule and that may be indicated by the low number of shows announced so far this year with just New York and his regular run at Royal Albert Hall in London on the schedule.
