Goth-rock chart-toppers Evanescence release their first single in four years.
The band have released the new single ‘What You Want’ after a tumultuous few years of recording hiccups and band member rearrangements.
It was recorded in Nashville’s Blackbird Studios with producer Nick Raskulinecz, who has previously worked with Foo Fighters, RUSH and Deftones.
Singer Amy Lee has said that the song is “really different” and it certainly is a high-impact rocker without their usual mournful ballad angle.
She said, “It’s about freedom – that’s definitely a constant theme on the record, and the chorus – ‘Remember who you really are’ – that’s exactly everything you could assume it means.”
The multi-platinum act are polishing off their third album, and first in five years, which is likely to be self-titled and released on October 7.
