The Factory Records label, pivotal to the Manchester sound, deliver a compilation of dance mixes and rarities.
Factory Records was spawned out of a seminal nightclub of the same name, and launched the careers of Joy Division, Happy Mondays, New Order, and other leading lights of the Manchester scene.
Now Strut! Records is releasing a double-disc retrospective of their early dancefloor mixes and rarities, titled Fac. Dance.
It features mixes from pivotal early acts Section 25 and A Certain Ratio, and artists like Quando Quango and Marcel King who connected with ‘80s club culture in New York for remixes from Mark Kamins.
There’s also samples of Factory’s diversion into Latin and jazz with acts like Swamp Children, Kalima, and 52nd Street.
The collection has already been called “essential” by The Quietus, “a grab bag of quality material” by XLR8R, and “a snapshot of a remarkably fertile club scene” by Stars The Skinny.
Fac. Dance will be released on Strut Records through Fuse this Friday 28 October.
