Donna Summer died Thursday May 17 in Florida from lung cancer not related to smoking. The family has confirmed that Donna did not smoke. Her representative Brian Edward said today, “various reports currently surfacing about the cause of Ms. Summer’s death are not accurate. Obviously, numerous factors can be attributed to the cause of cancer in general, but any details regarding the diagnosis and subsequent treatment of Ms. Summer’s case remain between her family and team of doctors.”
Reports indicate that Donna had said she contracted the cancer after breathing in toxic fumes in New York after the September 11 attack in New York in 2001.
Donna Summer died with her family around her. She was 63. She is survived by husband Bruce Sudano, daughters Brooklyn and Amy and four grandchildren.
