Reclusive singer Kate Bush had her home broken into by an obsessive fan who had planned to propose to her.
According to The Daily Mail, 32-year-old Frank Tufaro – an American – travelled to the Bush’s home in Devon, carrying a £3,000 ($AU4,453) engagement ring made of diamond, sapphire and gold. He broke in via a window but Bush wasn’t home. He was arrested after a neighbour spotted him and called the police.
It is believed that Tufaro became obsessed with Bush after seeing her on television as a teenager. He was quoted as saying: “I feel so connected to her. I feel so much love for her and I wan to protect her.
“I was inside for about eight minutes before I realised I had to leave. I just walked around and looked at everything. It wasn’t what I expected.”
“I didn’t have a clue where I was and was convinced I was going to die there, it was so bitter and cold.”
Tufaro reportedly spent £240 ($AU356) on a taxi to the home which he found using satellite coordinates he found on the internet. He was detained under the Mental Health Act and was deported from Britain. He was handed over to the FBI in New York.
Kate Bush recently released her first album in six years, 50 Words For Snow, which has earned her a nomination for Best Female Artist at the Brit Awards.
