Father John Misty has released a song honouring himself in ‘Mr Tillman’.
Joshua Tillman is Father John Misty. He was the drummer for Fleet Foxes from 2008 to 2012 and appeared on the 2011 ‘Helplessness Blues’ album. he created the Father John Misty persona when he left the band to start his solo career. Prior to Fleet Foxes he recorded as J. Tillman.
The song ‘Mr Tillman’ is described as a song about “his own misadventure”.
‘Mr Tillman’ is from Josh’s fourth Father John Misty album ‘God’s Favorite Customer’ coming June 1.
God’s Favorite Customer was produced by Tillman and recorded with Jonathan Rado, Dave Cerminara, and Trevor Spencer. The album features contributions from Haxan Cloak, Natalie Mering of Weyes Blood, longtime collaborator Jonathan Wilson, and members of Misty’s touring band.
