The new Fleetwood Mac line-up has given their first interviews since the departure of Lindsay Buckingham. Mick Fleetwood says “it was a like a marriage that came to an end and we had to move on”.
With Neil Finn and Mike Campbell now permanently in the band, Mick Fleetwood has says they may even record new music together. “This is absolutely a new band. This is the new line-up of Fleetwood Mac,” he told CBS News.
Of the qualifications of Finn and Campbell Mick says, “Both of these members have a legacy of their own. They don’t need to have a calling card. They are who they are”.
The tension with Buckingham came to a head at the recent MusiCares event in New York. “It became a huge impasse and we hit a brick wall where we decided we had to part ways,” Fleetwood says.
Stevie Nicks told CBS, “This team wanted to get out of the road and one of the members did not want to get out on the road for a year”.
When they started looking for a replacement they listened to everyone they could think of. “We sat around the table and started listening to everyone we could think of,” Stevie said. “You did very well Neil,” added Mick.
