Prine last payed Australia with a one-off appearance at Adelaide’s Womadelaide in 1993. It is understood that he has never toured the country before.

Prine’s most famous song ‘Angel From Montgomery’ became well-known after Bonnie Raitt made it her own.

John’s song ‘Paradise’ is often cited as his greatest work.

John Prine songs have been covered by Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, Evanda Dando, Loretta Lynn and Bette Midler. Midler’s version of ‘Hello In There’ became an essential part of her live act for decades.

John Prine released his first five albums on Atlantic Records in 1971 and then signed with Asylum Records for his next three albums between 1978 and 1980.

Prine’s ‘Sam Stone’ was on his debut.

John Prine released his most recent album ‘The Tree of Forgiveness’ this year. It featured the song ‘Caravan of Fools’, co-written with Dan Auerbach.
