It is now less than two weeks until the 16th annual edition of Fuji Rock Festival, which takes place on the summery ski slopes of Naeba Ski Resort, Niigata, Japan.
With the final line-up having been announced, 200+ artist from Japan and all around the world, will perform over the three day festival across 16 performance spaces, scattered along the sun soaked ski slopes of Naeba Ski Resort.
The headlining artists of this year’s festival are Nine Inch Nails, Bjork, and to close the festival out, The Cure. Other key highlights include likes of the xx, Australia’s Tame Impala, Jurassic 5, My Bloody Valentine, Vampire Weekend, Savages, Skrillex, Mumford and Sons, Yo La Tango, Flying Lotus, Of Monsters and Men, Killswitch Engage, Cat Power, Diiv, Haim, Ron Sexsmith, DJ Shadow, Death Grips and Japanese “Wizard Rock” outfit, Bo Ningen.
Last year’s festival saw a cumulative attendance of 140,000 people over the three day event, which had The Stone Roses, Noel Gallagher and the High Flying Birds and Radiohead headlining.
To add to the exciting lineup, there is an exclusive of another type to this years festival. This year sees the World Premier Listening Party for NY psych-pop duo MGMT, and their self-titled third studio album, which is due for release on September 18, 2013. This listening party will happen simultaneously in Japan and the US, where by the album will be played in full, with visuals, in the “Cinema Fuji”.
