GANGajang’s new song ‘Circle In The Sand’ marks the first a band has been permitted to film on the sacred ground of Uluru.
‘Circle In The Sand’ was inspired by the Pintupi 9, the “lost tribe” of the Gibson Desert.
Proceeds from ‘Circle In The Sand’ will go to Uncle Jimmy Thumbs Up, a nutrition program for the prevention of chronic disease for Indigenous children. The song was written by Graham ‘Buzz’ Bidstrup and Geoffrey Stapleton and features guest vocalists are Indigenous elder from Hermansburg NT Warren H Williams and Danielle Young from CAAMA media.
The connection with Jimmy Little Foundation and Uncle Jimmy Thumbs up! and their work in the Mutitjulu community near Uluru was the thing that got the band over the line with permits.
The video was shot by Chris Tangey from Alice Springs Film & Television and is coming soon.
