Garth Brooks remains the biggest selling artist of the SoundScan era despite not having released an album in more than a decade.
Brooks went into retirement shortly after his 2001 album ‘Scarecrow’. At the time his ‘Double Live’ album was 21 times platinum, ‘No Fences’ was 17 times platinum, ‘Ropin’ The Wind’ was 14 times platinum and ‘Garth Brooks’, ‘The Hits’ and ‘Sevens’ were 10 times platinum.
Albums released prior to the start of SoundScan in 1993 do not count towards the biggest selling album chart. The Beatles and Pink Floyd figures quoted are for sales since 1993 as well.
