Garth Brooks has booked a marathon run of dates in Chicago.
Tickets went on sale today for ten shows at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL, a stand that was originally scheduled for just September 4 when it was announced ten days ago.
The fact that dates weren’t added as other sold out, instead putting all ten on sale at once, shows how much Brooks and promoters were confident of the demand for the returning singer.
Brooks announced the Chicago opening for his comeback tour (originally scheduled for Dublin, Ireland) through a fan who Garth promised would be the “first to know” when he knew his full plans. Garth said of the decision to start in Chicago, “As an entertainer, you get asked a lot ‘what are the best cities to play?’ Without hesitation, I rattle five or six of the best places to play and that list ALWAYS includes Chicago. It is the PERFECT city to launch the World Tour!”
Allstate Arena has a capacity of 18,500 people for concerts. Using that figure, the potential tickets available would be 185,000 and, at $56.94 for all seats (an addition $2.56 is added for tax and $6.00 for a service charge), the run has the potential to gross $10,533,900.
This is the first time Brooks has played Chicago in 17 years.
