Gene Simmons of Kiss is now the proud recipient of the Charles Durning Patriotism Award.
Actor Charles Durning (Tootsie, Scarface, O Brother Where Art Thou) was a decorated American soldier who served during World War II. For his valor and wounds he was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze and Purple Heart medals.
Simmons was honored for his work with troops and veterans at a function on Thursday in Hollywood. “This is the Award I was proud to receive from the Disabled Veteran Business Alliance. Honor our proud Military”.
Simmons wife Shannon Tweed and daughter Sophie accompanied Gene at Hollywood’s Paramount Studios for the award.
In March this year, Gene hired veterans as his roadies for Kiss.
