Just as Steve Hackett leaves Australia a few Genesis production is coming to town.

The Musical Box is a Genesis tribute endorsed by Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel.

“They’re not a tribute band, they have taken a period and are faithfully reproducing it in the same way that someone would do a theatrical production. The Musical Box play it better than we did!” Collins said in a statement.

Original Genesis lead singer Peter Gabriel is also a fan. “I saw them in Bristol with my children so they could see what their father did back then. I was really impressed by the production quality and the attention to detail,” he said.

The Musical Box is from Montreal, Canada. The band took its name from a 1971 track from the Genesis album ‘Nursery Cryme’.

The 2018 tour of Australia and New Zealand will focus on a complete performance of the 1973 Genesis album ‘Selling England By The Pound’.

The Musical Box Australian and New Zealand dates

Wednesday 24 January – Astor Theatre, Perth WA
Friday 26 January – The Tivoli, Brisbane, Qld
Saturday 27 January – The State Theatre, Sydney, NSW
Sunday 28 January – The Palais, Melbourne, Vic
