The Martin Scorsese directed documentary won for Outstanding Nonfiction Special and Martin Scorsese won an Emmy for Outstanding Directing for Nonfiction Programming.

“Marty was able to summon George’s spirit in this documentary and I think in the end it’s that spirit that the audience and the Emmys have responded to.” said Olivia Harrison in a statement.

The Creative Arts Emmy Awards are a forerunner to the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards, to be awarded tonight (September 23) in Los Angeles.
