Girls Aloud have called it quits.
The English-Irish girl group announced the split just hours after taking their bows at their final reunion tour concert in Liverpool on Wednesday night.
Cheryl Cole, Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding and Nadine Coyle shared the news on Twitter.
“Dear Alouders, we just want to say from the bottom of our hearts Thank you!!’ the message reads.
‘This tour has been an amazing experience and the perfect chance to say thank you for being on this journey with us through a decade. It has far exceeded any of our dreams and we hope we are forever your inspiration and reminder that dreams really do glitter!!’
As part of their Ten: The Hits Tour the girls have travelled through England, Scotland and Ireland for the last month.
The memories they shared on stage performing their last planned shows together will always stay with them, the singers said in their shared statement to fans.
‘Your love and support will stay with us forever but we have now come to the end of our incredible time together. Love you lots,’ the ladies signed off.
The announcement came as little shock to Girls Aloud fans.
The band was long rumoured to be on the outs after releasing their greatest hits album, Ten, last year.
The tour marked the group’s first in four years. They previously took a three year hiatus following their Out of Control tour in 2009.
