Glen Campbell, who is in the midst of his farewell tour, has cancelled the Australian leg of the trek.
According to a spokeswoman for the singer, he just isn’t up for the “very long flight that it would require” to tour the southern continent. Campbell announced that he was suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease last year.
His tour partner for the Australian/New Zealand tour, Kenny Rogers, will still play at the scheduled dates.
Glen still has eight U.S. shows left in his tour, six this month and two in October, ending with the Warner Theatre in Torrington, CA on October 20.
Australia also had to suffer the announcement on Wednesday that Madonna would not be touring down under. No reason was given by the promoter, Live Nation, who only said that “Madonna’s tour will end in South America in December as planned. That’s all we can say.”
The Material Girl hasn’t played Australia in over twenty years.
