Gorillaz have something to say about America’s second most voted for politician of 2016 Donald Trump.
This week Trump will become the first reality show star President of the United States and a number of music artists including Gorillaz are using their medium to express opinions on his new position.
Among those artists are Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett and their fictional cartoon band Gorillaz who have released their first new music in six years due solely to the imminent inauguration.
Hallelujah Money features British singer Benjamin Clementine in a thinly veiled criticism of Trump and what they see as the future of the world. The “band” tweeted “Dark times – u need someone to look up to. Me. Here’s a lightning bolt of truth in a black night. Now piss on! New stuff won’t write itself.”
The band has confirmed that Hallelujah Money will NOT be included on their upcoming album due later in 2017.
