Gorillaz, the “virtual band” created by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, have set two new dates in support of their new album, Humanz.
The album, which comes out on April 28, has already been played in full last Friday (March 24) at Printworks in London, England for a small intimate crowd but, with the new shows, they are opening things up to the general public.
First up is the Demon Dayz Music Festival on June 10 in Margate, England. While the lineup has not been announced, Albarn told the recent London audience that the majority of the guest stars on the album will be attending so look for Noel Gallagher, Mavis Staples, Carly Simon, Grace Jones, De La Soul, Jehnny Beth (Savages), Pusha T, Danny Brown, Vince Staples, Kelela, D.R.A.M., Peven Everett, Popcaan, Anthony Hamilton and others.
Then, on July 15, the band will be playing Le Festival d’ete de Quebec in Montreal. This will be the first show in North America for Gorillaz since November 3, 2010 at the Rogers Arena in Vancover, BC at the end of the N.A. leg of their Escape to Plastic Beach tour.
