Gotye books an SNL performance, and upgrades his San Francisco date from a 500-capacity venue to an 8000-capacity one.
Things just keep getting bigger and bigger for Gotye. His Making Mirrors album has cracked the US top ten at number nine, and ‘Somebody I Used To Know’ is at number five on the singles chart.
He has now been booked in to perform on Saturday Night Live on April 14, therefore his April 12 San Francisco date has been vastly expanded from the 500-capacity Independent to the 8000-capacity Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on April 18.
SFWeekly reported the venue shift, and Executive Vice President of concert promoter Another Planet Entertainment Allen Scott said, “I’ve certainly never seen anything like this before.”
The Independent show sold out long ago, and Scott revealed, “There’s certainly an overwhelming demand. We knew it was bigger than the [roughly 2,500-capacity] Fox. He wants to make sure as many people can see him as want to see him.”
Unfortunately, the rescheduling means that Kimbra will no longer be able to support him. So we’ll just have to wait and see if anyone shows for a Kimbra-less ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’.
