Gotye will be Wally Basic again today when The Basics, some band that he used to know, reform for the Woodford Folk Festival.
Wally De Becker (aka Gotye aka Wally Basic) formed The Basics with bass player Kris Schroeder (aka Kris Basic) in 2002 with guitarist Michael Hubbard who left in 2004 and was replaced by Tim Heath, the current guitarist for the band.
Wally takes a back seat in The Basics … literally. He is the band’s drummer.
Simultaneous to The Basics, Wally drove his solo career which in 2011 took him all the way to number one worldwide with the song ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’. The song won three Grammy Awards in 2013.
The Basics returned to active duty in September after the reissue of their early work as the ‘Ingredients’ and ‘Leftovers’ albums.
The Basics will perform at the Woodford Folk Festival this afternoon (December 30, 2013) at 3pm.
