Graham Nash To Officially Release Early Demos

by Paul Cashmere on June 27, 2018

in News

Graham Nash will release an album of his early demos in a new album ‘Over The Years…’.

‘Over The Years’ dates back to his days in The Hollies when he wrote ‘Marrakesh Express’ for his British band before heading to the USA to start a whole new extension of his career soon after with David Crosby and Stephen Stills.

‘Marrakesh Express’ was written in his London flat in 1968. While The Hollies didn’t want it, it surfaced a year later on the debut album for Crosby, Stills & Nash.

The Nash song ‘Pre-Road Downs’, also from the first CSN album also appears in demo form on ‘Over The Years…”.

Nash’s demos were similar to his finished studio recording. Many artists evolve their sounds in the studio but Nash had the rare talent of hearing the end result while writing the songs.

He wrote ‘Teach Your Children’ and ‘Our House’ for the first Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young album ‘Déjà vu’, ‘Chicago’ for his first solo album ‘Songs For Beginners’ and ‘Over The Years…’ goes through the 70s to include ‘Just A Song Before I Go’ and 80s ‘Wasted On The Way’.
