Boz Scaggs will bring his ‘The Memphis And His Hits Tour’ to Australia in April 2014 and he’ll be bringing Australian icon Russell Morris along for the ride.
Starting south of the mainland, Scaggs will perform at Wrest Point in Hobart before hitting the Crown Theatre in Perth and the Palais Theatre in Melbourne.
Scaggs’ reign on the charts and airwaves during the 1970s, particularly during ’76 when his Grammy-nominated and five-time platinum album, ‘Silk Degrees’, peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200 list.
For the tour, Boz will perform tracks spanning his entire back catalogue of 17 albums which includes his latest offering ‘Memphis’, that looks back on glory days of American Roots music.
Recorded at the legendary Royal Studio (Al Green, Chuck Berry) ‘Memphis’ enlists the talents artists including Keb ‘Mo’, Willie Weeks, Steve Jordan, Ray Parker Jnr and Spooner Oldham.
Joining Boz on the tour will be ARIA Hall of Famer, Russell Morris. After a stellar 12 months following the release if his ARIA top 10 album, ‘Sharkmouth’, a homage to Australian Blues music of the 1940s, it seems only fitting that these two legends should share the same stage.
In addition to his shows with Russell Morris, Scaggs will also be playing on a lonesome Sydney show at the State Theatre on April 12 2014.
