Garbage was formed in Madison, Wisconsin in 1993 with Butch Vig, Duke Erickson and Steve Marker. Vig originally was the lead singer of the band but stepped down when they found Scottish singer Shirley Manson.
Hours after Vig met Manson in London, Butch heard about the death of Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain. Vig was the producer of Nirvana’s masterpiece ‘Nevermind’.
