The first ever Australian tour for hip-hop legend Grandmaster Melle Mel has been cancelled.
Back in July, a tour was announced for hip-hop and rap icon Grand Melle Mel. The Furious Five co-founder behind such classics as ‘White Lines’ and ‘The Message’ would perform in Australia for the first time.
Square One Entertainment write in a press release that they were “extremely proud to be presenting [his] first ever Australian tour” after a year of negotiations, but the tour was rescheduled from October to November after Melle Mel’s representatives failed to provide the appropriate information to secure work visas.
That information still wasn’t forthcoming at the start of October so they now write, “we have no choice but to cancel.”
They write that in twenty years of involvement in the industry, it is the first time they have had to cancel a tour. They write, “Square One Entertainment would like to apologise to all those who were looking forward to the shows. Ticket holders are entitled to a full refund and by this stage should have been contacted by ticketing outlets.”
